USS Mustin Challenge Coin Description

USS Mustin Challenge Coin

Honor the legacy of the Mustin family—four generations of U.S. Navy officers spanning nearly a century—and the bold spirit of the forward-deployed destroyer USS Mustin (DDG-89) with this USS Mustin Challenge Coin. Featuring the ship’s distinctive command insignia and colorized front design, this coin embodies the core values of Readiness, Lethality, and Forward Presence that define the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer and its crew .

USS Mustin (DDG-89) was commissioned on July 26, 2003, and carries the motto “Always Be Bold” . She was the first Arleigh Burke destroyer built with her funnels submerged into the superstructure—an additional stealth measure taken on the warship . After nearly five years in San Diego, Mustin returned to Yokosuka, Japan, on March 23, 2026, rejoining Destroyer Squadron 15 as a forward-deployed asset in the U.S. 7th Fleet . This coin honors her service—from her 2003 commissioning to her current role maintaining security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
