Rocky Mountain Imperial Court Commemorative Badge Description

Rocky Mountain Imperial Court Commemorative Badge

Honor Community. Celebrate Visibility. Preserve LGBTQ+ Legacy.

This Rocky Mountain Imperial Court Commemorative Badge is a premium collectible designed for members, supporters, and allies of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire (ICRME). Featuring court heraldry, reign numbering, and royal title designations, this badge celebrates the oldest non-profit LGBTQ+ organization in Colorado, founded in 1973 as part of the International Imperial Court System that originated in San Francisco in 1965 .

The Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire is a year-round charitable organization that has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to support causes including Colorado AIDS Project, Freedom Service Dogs of America, Parkinson’s charities, and hospice care . Members “show the beauty in being queer” through drag performances, fundraising galas, and community events—all run entirely by volunteers . This badge captures that spirit—where visibility meets service—through high-quality enamel craftsmanship.

Core Features

Authentic Court Heraldry & Royal Title Designations – Features Imperial Court heraldic symbols, reign numbering, and royal title designations (Emperor/Empress/Emprex) representing membership in the Rocky Mountain Imperial Court system. The court follows a hierarchical structure of noble titles based on European peerage, including Imperial Crown Prince, Grand Duchess, Marquess, Viscount, and other offices within a medieval or modern noble court .

Member Identification & Fundraising Recognition – Members are able to purchase a name badge with membership dues for the 52nd Reign at $35 . The badge serves as identification for court members who “show the beauty in being queer” through the mission of “giving back to the Colorado Queer Community” . Titles and society memberships are traditionally presented during investiture ceremonies and coronation events .

Community & Charitable Engagement – Proceeds from fundraising shows, coronation balls, and charitable events support local LGBTQ+ organizations and community programs. ICRME has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to charities including Freedom Service Dogs of America, Colorado AIDS Project, and hospice care .

Secure Attachment – Butterfly clutch backing for safe daily wear on jackets, formal court attire, or lanyards.

Rocky Mountain Imperial Court Commemorative Badge Applications

For Court Membership & Personal Identification

The badge serves as an official name badge for members of the Imperial Court of the Rocky Mountain Empire (ICRME) . Members are able to purchase a name badge with membership dues ($35 for the 52nd Reign), which identifies them as a “Citizen of the Realm” and grants voting privileges and the right to walk at all Court functions . The badge is a daily symbol of membership in the oldest LGBTQ+ organization in Colorado, founded in 1973 .

For Coronation Balls & Royal Investiture Ceremonies

The badge is worn during formal Imperial Court events, including annual Coronation Balls, investiture ceremonies, and royal functions where elected monarchs (Emperor and Empress) are crowned . The badge designates the wearer’s noble title within the court hierarchy, which follows a medieval peerage structure including Imperial Crown Prince, Grand Duchess, Marquess, Viscount, and other royal designations. Members attend Coronations throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico representing the Northern Colorado area .

For LGBTQ+ Community & Charitable Fundraising

The badge signifies the wearer’s commitment to the ICRME’s mission of raising money for charitable organizations and helping those in need within the community . The organization has given close to a million dollars to charities and non-profit organizations in Colorado over the last 12 years, supporting causes including Colorado AIDS Project, Freedom Service Dogs of America, Parkinson’s charities, and hospice care . The badge is worn during fundraising functions, drag shows, and community events where proceeds are collected for designated beneficiaries .

For Historical & Collectible Memorabilia Markets

The badge is collected by those interested in LGBTQ+ history and Imperial Court memorabilia. The ICRME’s archival collections are held at the Denver Public Library, preserving the history of this organization for future generations . The Imperial Court System is one of the oldest and largest LGBTQ+ organizations in the world, founded in 1965, making court badges significant historical artifacts . A book titled “Noble Deeds: Mythic Portraits of the Imperial Court” documents the pageantry and philanthropy of the International Imperial Court System .
